Origin: Regiones tropicales y subtropicales del Japón, China y Malasia.
Etymology: el nombre genérico científico deriva del griego «kykas» empleado por Teofrasto al referirse a una palma. Sin embargo, a pesar de su aspecto, las cicadáceas no tienen nada que ver con las palmas.

The Cycas revoluta at a glance can be mistaken as a palm tree, and so are known as fake palm trees, as they are not related to them. The cyca is a plant, not to call her palm, which comes from Asia, and is purchased for gardens because of its size.
