Origin: Regiones tropicales y subtropicales del Japón, China y Malasia.
Etymology: el nombre genérico científico deriva del griego «kykas» empleado por Teofrasto al referirse a una palma. Sin embargo, a pesar de su aspecto, las cicadáceas no tienen nada que ver con las palmas.

The Cycas revoluta at a glance can be mistaken as a palm tree, and so are known as fake palm trees, as they are not related to them. The cyca is a plant, not to call her palm, which comes from Asia, and is purchased for gardens because of its size.

The Cycas is over 300 million years of existence, appeared before dinosaurs , especially during the Jurassic period, that is said to be prehistoric, practically a fossil, nevertheless, remains very bought for decoration gardens.

The big problem of Cycas revoluta is not supporting the cold, so it can not be placed in every garden, even if cycas you buy in nurseries inside, because with a good pot can be placed anywhere in the house. Also, Cycas revoluta are usually bought for old houses with interior gardens.
